about

The traditional folk song, with a radically reworked harmonic structure by yours truly.

lyrics

Black, black, black is the color of my true love's hair
Her face so soft and wondrous fair
The purest eyes and the kindest hands
I love the ground on where she stands

I go to the Clyde for to mourn and weep
But satisfied I never can sleep
I'll write to you a few short lines
I suffer death ten thousand times

Oh I know my love and well she knows
I love the grass on where she goes
If she no more in this world I'd see
My life would quickly fade away

The winter's gone and the leaves are green
The time has passed that we have seen
And still I hope that the day may come
When she and I may be as one

Black, black, black is the color of my true love's hair
